When it comes to his design practice, founder Samuel Ross is a futurist who pushes the boundaries of form, function and materials. On the other hand, many would think of as a company that's rooted in its heritage – they have produced timeless models like the , and , after all – but Converse knows how to go future-forward too, and the new A-COLD-WALL* x Converse Aeon Active CX is proof of that.
Converse says the new model is 'built for forward progress,' so it's fitting that it drew inspiration from running shoes – products that often set the comfort standard for the footwear industry. It's an easy-on, easy-off silhouette thanks to a stretch bootie construction and a unique heel kick, and its cushioning technology combines Converse's with sustainable Crater Foam, which is constructed partly of scraps from factory floors. The top half is built from a mixture of perforated suede and leather, and special A-COLD-WALL* branding is scattered around the entire assemblage for a technical look.
Two colourways are set to release: 'Micro Chip/Healing Jade/Black' and 'Black/Black/Apple Green.' Each will see a staggered rollout, with the former arriving exclusively at the ACW* website April 6, then hitting the Converse website on April 12 and the latter releasing via ACW* April 8, then hitting Converse's online outpost more than a month later on May 12. The MSRP for each pair is set at $160.
