It seems the New Balance 1400 remains perpetually slept on. For keen followers of the specific model, it’s a good thing, as it means more pairs for those that really want them. However, some retailers are still placing some strategic hurdles to ensure everyone gets a fair chance at copping a pair, such as the M1400SB edition. This colourway has been a regular offering over in NB’s other spiritual home that is Japan, which is where it’s releasing again soon via raffle.

The 1400 isn’t really seen that much over in the West, except maybe at J. Crew every now and again thanks to an ongoing exclusive partnership. However, over in Japan, the 1400 has been a big hit since it first landed circa 1994. Treasured for its Made In USA quality and premium materials – think pigskin suede, herringbone mesh toebox and creamy accents – the M1400SB aka ‘Steel Blue’ has been a staple on Tokyo streets for years. The good looks are backed up with practical cushioning in the ENCAP and C-CAP midsole combo and a signature reflective midfoot N.

Re-up on the New Balance 1400 via mita sneakers, who currently have raffles open until September 29, which will be drawn on October 2. Sorry international sneakerheads, this drop is for Japan only.
