Fresh Luna(r)cy From AVAVAV: adidas Moonrubber Megaride and Superstar Modified Colab Unveiled
Six months on from AVAVAV's provocative debut colab with , the Florentine fashion brand – captained by fearless visionary Beate Karlsson – have announced a new drop.
That inaugural colab gave us the weird and witty ' a detatchable piece which clasped onto the outside of reimagined (which featured debossed ‘SUPERSTAR’ text and co-branded adidas x AVAVAV logos). Initially revealed at Milan Fashion Week in September 2024, 'Superfingers' was the result of adidas encouraging Karlsson to 'make fun' of the brand (according to the designer herself, in a press release accompanying the release).
Now, the AVAVAV x adidas Moonstar Megaride and Superstar Modified are ready to climb outta the clown car.
The sneakers themselves offer up a decidedly distorted version of the classic Superstar silhouette. The materials stay true to form but Karlsson has bloated the model's extremities, blowing up the heel and shell toe to freaky proportions. There's a blacked-out colourway for those who take their gags seriously, while the sportier, weathered off-white iteration brings pops of berry to the Three Stripes, insole, heel and tongue.
The Moonrubber Megaride looks something like the dreamy lunar version of more violent sole (designed to fit her ). The Moonrubber envelops all but the mesh upper of the sneaker in a super-glossy, undulating bubble which will take your look to 'outré' faster than a deflating balloon-animal.
The AVAVAV x adidas capsule will release via CONFIRMED on May 22, 2025. The Superstar Modified models are set at $280 and the Moonrubber will go for $350. Keep it locked to Sneaker Freaker for any and all updates!
