24 Kilates Celebrate an Insane Thai Sport With Latest Colab
Sepak takraw is likely the most insane foot-based ball sport on the planet. Imagine professional football's best gravity-defying scissor kicks combined with the skill of keepie uppie and the power of volleyball, all playing out on an unforgiving hard court. Basically, they stop just short of setting the ball on fire. While little-known outside South-East Asia, the sport has a major following in Thailand. In fact, Thailand is home to the greatest takraw players in the world.
Since 24 Kilates expanded their operations to Bangkok in 2015, the passionate retailers have used collaborations to honour their new home. The latest was created in conjunction with Danish brand Hummel's premium HIVE division, and celebrates sepak takraw with a special edition Marathona and matching apparel.
Favouring simplicity, 24 Kilates have dressed the vintage Hummel runner's one-piece upper in supple, black lamb leather. The shoes feature tonal stitching and golden branding on the tongue and heel, and a genuine brass pedant made in Thailand. Three sets of laces invite a degree of customisation, and for the finishing touch, the shoes come packaged in a decadent leather-like shoebox with gold deboss.
The apparel collection consists of two jerseys and a pair of shorts, each piece adorned with text and imagery relating to Thailand's national sepak takraw team, who stepped in to put the upcoming colab to the test in a high-intensity reveal video.
Each item in the 24 Kilates x Hummel HIVE collection is limited to just 333 units, so get in quick or risk missing out.
The collection will launch on December 2 exclusively through 24 Kilates' Bangkok and Barcelona stores. A wider release will follow on December 7 through Hummel's online store, as well as Hanon, Afew, Black Rainbow, Overkill, Titolo and Par 5.
