This year's Big Bubble renaissance is all about the 's 30th birthday bash, and has seen drop a of with that extra-generous Air unit in the heel. One of the most anticipated palettes to land was the – but now the model's more agile descendent is getting its stealth moment.

The Nike Air Max 95 Ultra was introduced in 2015 – a full 20 years after the OG Air Max 95 was dreamed up and set free by designer Sergio Lozano – with the express purpose of offering the sleek style without the weight. And while the Ultra is a baby (relatively speaking), no silhouette is too young to get the emo treatment.

We know Nike love themselves a moody makeover – they've already delivered blacked-out versions of the , and just this year – but now is the Air Max 95 Ultra's moment.

That lightweight, Phylon-injected midsole is looking as svelte as a panther's tail, and the streamlined signature side panels hug the shoe's form shadow-close. The result is a truly minimalist masterpiece which embraces the 'Triple Black' aesthetic while allowing subtle touches of gray and blue to appear only briefly – much like candles in the wind, if you want to get lyrical about it.
