Many are unicorn grails that sneakerheads can only dream of seeing in the flesh, let alone having enough scratch to buy. To make matters even more hectic, there’s been a major spike on the resale market since the SB Dunk took the zeitgeist by storm in 2020, with celebrities scooping rare SBs to flex courtside and on the red carpet.

The story of the Nike SB Dunk Low 'Freddy Krueger' is an infamous one: a cease and desist was sent to Team Swoosh by New Line Cinema, ordering all pairs destroyed. However, some stores who already had stock in their possession let a few slip through the cracks. If you have the cash to splash, a pair for almost $30,000 – but these can command prices upwards of $80,000.

Having caused riots and other assorted flavours of craziness in the streets of New York, the Nike SB Dunk Low 'Staple NYC Pigeon' – which dropped in 2005 – is a must-have for every enthusiast around the globe. The instantly recognisable pigeon logo drives the price up, with an average StockX resale value of $13,000.

No surprises here. Extremely rare and very sought-after, the Nike SB Dunk Low 'Paris' has been on the grail list of sneakerheads the world over since its release in 2002. With pairs selling upwards of $70,000, we can totally understand why.
Nike Dunk Low Premium SB ‘Joker’ Samples
Both of these models are rumoured to be a part of a ‘Villains Pack’ created around the same time Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight hit cinemas in 2008. This pack never actually hit store shelves, which makes these two of the most rare SBs of all time. Both pairs old at Sotheby’s recently, for $27,940… each!

Nike SB Dunk Low ‘What The’
The Nike SB Dunk Low that makes you say ! Originally dropping back in 2007, this SB Dunk is arguably one of the most iconic of all time. Rumours have stated that the ‘What The’ was limited to only 500 pairs. Classic colourways including the ‘Heineken’, ‘Pigeon’, ‘Raygun’ and ‘Huf’ make up the upper, a concept inspiring countless homages. Today, you can still cop a pair, but you’ll be out around $10,000.
Nike SB Dunk Low Pro SB ‘eBay Charity’
This is one of the most notorious Nike SB Dunk Lows to ever exist! In August 2003, SB and forged a partnership in order to launch a single Dunk that was eventually auctioned off for a massive $30,000, with the proceeds going towards the Tim Brauch Foundation.
Having initially faced punters who were sceptical of the singular Dunk's rarity, Nike actually cut up the sample, so there truly was only 1-of-1. It’s also rumoured that Sandy Bodecker received a pair when he retired from Nike in 2008.

Nike Dunk High Pro SB ‘Reverse Sea Crystal’ Sample
This sample was created way back in 2004, and boasts a reverse of the iconic ‘Sea Crystal’ colourway. The colourway takes its inspiration from the washed-out hues of sea glass that collected on the beaches of Connecticut as a child. A single pair sold in 2023 at Sotheby’s for $25,400.

Nike SB Dunk low ‘Heineken’
The only thing better than a crispy cold Heineken on a hot day is the Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Heineken’ – a Sneaker Freaker fan favourite! This was never an official collaboration, but emerged in 2003 with a colourway and red star on the lateral heel that nodded to the Dutch beer company. Despite rumours of a return back in 2022, you can still expect the OG to sell for upwards of $10,000!
Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Entourage Version 2’
HBO’s Entourage enjoyed massive fandom during its seven-season life, and there was some pretty dismayed devotees when the series concluded in 2011. However, one good thing came out of the finale – a Nike SB collaboration! The version pictured is a Friends and Family iteration also known as the ‘Entourage Version 2’, and it can fetch a tidy sum, often between $4,000 and $10,000.

Nike Dunk Low Premium SB Jeff Staple ‘Pangeon’ Sample
Creating one of the most expensive Nike SB Dunks off all time is a mega achievement, but the legendary manages to make two entries on this list!
Both models are of the ‘Pigeon’ variety, but this pair was originally the third in the series and released in 2019. A year later, Staple posted to Instagram with a caption reading: ‘Thought I’d share a little backstory on these PANGEONS… “Pigeon Pink” is a trademark colour we’ve employed on all our past footwear designs. But because this Dunk was inspired by the Panda, we thought a “Bamboo Green” might be fitting & refreshing. While my team & I debated on this, @nike was good enough to sample both options for us. Somehow, the sample escaped Beaverton! In the end, we went with green, and I’m still happy about that decision. Thought it was all good till Nike legal yanked it. I also called a last-minute audible on the outsole.’
While the ‘Pangeon’ sample isn’t as valuable as the OG 2005 ‘Pigeon’, a pair sold for $38,100 at the recent .
