To celebrate their 40th year in the biz, Japanese retailer BEAMS has joined forces with mita sneakers and ASICS to produce this triple-threat colabo. The project is based on BEAMS’ origins in classic mid-century Americana, which has always been a significant influence in Harajuku style. More specifically, the shoe references the silky-smooth souvenir jackets picked up by marines following their tour of duty in the Far East. A blacked-out, quilt-stitched upper wrapped in suede takes centre stage, while intricately detailed embroideries of a snarling tiger and a kanji symbol for happiness take pride of place on the heels. Jungle camo hugs the outsoles as a nod to the standard uniform flossed by Uncle Sam’s troops. Embellished with dual branding for BEAMS and mita, this is one militant pair of Gel-Lyte IIIs.

The BEAMS x mita sneakers x ASICS Gel-Lyte III 'Souvenir Jacket' will be available June 11th through mita sneakers and BEAMS locations in Japan. A matching apparel collection will also be available, consisting of two long-sleeve tees and two short-sleeve tees.
