Arthur Huang’s contribution to Air Max Day – a sleek black AM1 – is the most eco-friendly Flyknit design thanks to its 'post-consumer materials' construction. The shoebox made from recycled liquid containers that you’d usually discard and think nothing of, while the Flyknit weave upper is made from recycled materials, constructed with as little wastage as possible.
Huang wasn’t content to leave it at that though, and has used the sneaker release to showcase the type of environmentally conscious design his company Miniwiz is known for with the shoe’s packaging. Inspired by the Air cushioning inside the shoes, the boxes that Huang’s AM1 ‘Royal’ colab come in use air as a resource – allowing it to fill a modular case that can be linked together to form large structures, or even repurposed as a backpack. We have already been keeping the boxes from our sneakers, but we'll be hanging on to Huang's colab for a whole new reason.
