The adidas F50 SPARKFUSION Is Built for Women
The world of football has expanded rapidly in recent years, with the game's reach and popularity bigger than they've ever been – especially among women. According to a report by , women’s football is projected to become one of the top five sports in the world by 2030.
Despite the mammoth audience bump, sneaker brands have sat behind the eight-ball, with many still yet to launch boots specifically designed and built for the female foot. Finally adidas have come through, and today announced the launch of the F50 SPARKFUSION – a boot 'built for women, by women’.
‘At adidas, we are committed to providing the best sporting equipment for our athletes and community, [and] the new F50 SPARKFUSION is the latest proof of that promise,’ said Sam Handy, GM at adidas Football. ‘When assessing the exact requirements for today’s game, our innovation team, product team and designers left no stone unturned to craft a boot which provides our women athletes with comfort, support and data-backed specifications to suit their physiology. The difference that has made to their game has come through loud and clear in the feedback from our athlete partners and in our testing results – so we can’t wait for everyone to experience the game-changing speed and comfort of F50 SPARKFUSION.’
The adidas innovation team spearheaded the creation of the F50 SPARKFUSION, taking data from the brand's female foot-sizing and anatomy data pool. Acknowledging the differences of female and male feet, adidas created a bespoke new dubbed FUSIONLAST, to incorporate better fit across the mid-and-forefoot. Team Trefoil also recognises the speed of women’s football; backed by match insights and tested by elite players like Trinity Rodman, they’ve tailored their boots for speed and fast changes of direction.
‘Developing tailored products for the women’s game is a huge win and I have found it so valuable to be a part of the design and research journey with adidas for F50 SPARKFUSION,’ Rodman said. ‘I love how the boot is built to support quick changes in direction – a trait that is a huge part of my craft – so I can’t wait to get out onto the pitch with them on and for everyone to feel the benefits.’
The uniqueness of the of the modern women’s game has led to a plethora of innovations in the boot arena, like the FUSIONSOLE SOCKLINER. This new lining helps with fit and stability, further supporting women’s higher arches and narrower heels. A brand new SPRINTFRAME sole plate has been added, which bolsters quick changes of direction – especially when combined with the new pivot stud.
‘The introduction of F50 SPARKFUSION is a great moment for the women’s game,’ said VfL Wolfsberg player, Jule Brand. ‘From grassroots to the professional level. Having been part of the testing process, I know the level of detail and research that went into producing the boot and can affirm the difference I felt, having worn them in training.’
The F50 SPARKFUSION has landed in both high and lowcut iterations with both laces and laceless designs.
