Yeezy Appoints Former Nike ACG Director as Head of Design

Yeezy brand is officially entering its next phase as a new head of design has now been appointed. According to WWD, the position is also a new role at the company and will be held by Nur Abbas. Abbas' career experience is extensive and will be transitioning over from Nike ACG where he was formerly the brand's design director – since November 2020. He also completed a stint as a designer at Nikelab Apparel. Prior to Nike, he worked for Uniqlo as head menswear designer, as well as in the luxury sector for both Louis Vuitton and Gucci.

According to WWD, Abbas will be working on a range of projects under the Yeezy banner including those with adidas, GAP, Stemwear and general merch. A number of statements on the appointment have been issued, one from Yeezy which states that Abbas 'will work to further expand the Yeezy empire, working directly with Ye to direct and launch special projects for the Yeezy brand.'

Abbas has said, 'I’m energized to work with Ye because he cares so deeply about design and moving culture forward. At Yeezy and Gap, I’ve met some of the most talented people and teams, and I’m looking forward to working with them all to extend this new creative vision to the world.'
