Wish ATL Releases the Aleali May x Air Jordan 1 Early for Local Drill Team
Founded by Lauren Amos, Wish ATL is one of the only female-owned-and-run sneaker shops in the US, and they’ve teamed up with Jordan Brand to finesse an impactful and meaningful early release for the upcoming Aleali May x Air Jordan collection.
To commemorate the collaboration, Wish ATL invited members of Mahogany-N-Motion – the dance/drill team of Spelman College, Atlanta’s historically black liberal arts college for women – to shop the collection first, holding a special event at the lower level of their store. Transforming the space into a spa-like experience, Wish ATL also organised custom nail art for guests, inspired by the collection.
At its core, Aleali May’s latest collection with the Jumpman has a personal inspiration, drawing from the energy of spirit of May’s high school drill team. Making use of a green, blue and white palette, each piece – most notably the Air Jordan 1 – is decorated with varsity-style chenille details, which will surely spark plenty of nostalgia.
Wish ATL have also created a short film that highlights the collection, featuring the members of Mahogany-N-Motion, who share how dance has impacted their own lives. Check it out below!
The Aleali May x Air Jordan collection releases on April 22.
