What We Know: Travis Scott x Playstation x Nike Dunk Low
Coming off a wild collaboration with McDonald’s, Travis Scott has linked up another one of the world’s most recognisable brands: PlayStation. The partnership announcement arrives ahead of the release of the PlayStation 5, with Scott set to take up a new role as a Strategic Creative Partner. The news has the gaming world pretty excited, but it was the reveal of a never-before-seen Nike Dunk Low collaboration that has sneakerheads hyped.
A crossover between La Flame’s familiar Cactus Jack brand and the all-conquering video game empire, the latest Dunk Low was revealed in a special announcement video (which pays homage to Maxell‘s iconic Hi-Fidelity tape commercial). In the clip, Sony’s Japanese development team sport co-branded apparel and sneakers, with Travis emerging towards the end with the new Dunks. The pair features a white, grey and black scheme, based on the PS5’s design. Reversed Swoosh logos and PlayStation logos marking the heel confirm the link-up.
‘I’m really looking forward to being able to showcase everything that Cactus Jack has worked on with Sony and the PlayStation team,’ said Scott, regarding the new partnership. ‘Most importantly I’m excited to see how the PlayStation fans and family respond, and I look forward to running some games with everybody very soon!’
At this stage, a release date for this gamer Grail has yet to be revealed. All signs point to a release alongside the debut of the PlayStation 5, which rolls out on November 12 in the United States and Japan. If past PlayStation collaborations are anything to go by, numbers are predicted to be extremely limited.
