There is no denying the impact that the late had on fashion and within wider culture. Up until his untimely death in 2021, the legendary creative polymath continuously reshaped the landscape of streetwear and sneaker design, blending high fashion with everyday sensibilities and breaking down barriers between disciplines. From his innovative designs themselves, to their reverberations across visual culture, Abloh challenged conventions and expanded what it means to be a designer in the 21st century. It only seems fitting that this September, the Grand Palais in Paris will honour the entrepreneur's groundbreaking legacy with Virgil Abloh: The Codes, the first major European exhibition dedicated exclusively to his work.

Running from September 30 to October 10, 2025, the upcoming exhibition will look to offer a sweeping retrospective of two decades of awe-inspiring output. Launched in partnership with , the show draws from over 20,000 archival pieces, including prototypes, sketches, personal artefacts and images that spanned the founder’s career. Inside, visitors will also get an intimate look at his creative process, with displays that trace his path from streetwear innovator to a global design force. The exhibition also celebrates his notable collaborations with cultural icons like , , and .

Complementing the displays are public programs – talks, workshops, performances, and screenings – that invite deeper engagement with the themes the tastemaker explored.

'This exhibition is just the beginning of our work to share Virgil’s legacy and principles with the creative community and the world,' said Shannon Abloh, founder and chairwoman of the Virgil Abloh Foundation, and CEO and president of Virgil Abloh Securities.

'Sharing his personal collection, unfinished projects, and magnum opuses with the public is an exceptional way to celebrate Virgil’s legacy and his commitment to accessible and collaborative [work]. Thanks to the Archives, Virgil will continue to live on as a source of inspiration and a beacon of creative knowledge.'

You can catch the Virgil Abloh: The Codes exhibition at the Grand Palais from September 30 through October 10, 2025.
