Virgil Abloh Confirms ‘The 50’ Off-White x Nike Dunk Low ‘Dear Summer’ Collection
After months of speculation and leaks, has just confirmed that his label will be releasing a 50-colourway collection of as part of the ‘Dear Summer’ collection.
Taking to socials, Abloh unveiled the packaging for the much-talked-about Dunks, more or less confirming that the collection will in fact consist of 50 pairs. The cardboard shoebox features holes akin to the , with a set of 50 numbers on the side denoting each variation.
To go with the photos, the streetwear savant also shared the following caption: ‘@off____white™ c/o @nike, summer ©2021 collection name is “Dear Summer”... it’s a whole thing... it was ©2017 i started drawing on those 10 Nike shoes. in my mind they are not literal shoes, but are more like sculptures a full-on art object made in multiple editions, somewhat scarce. they exist in a space all their own. where the plot thickens on the design side is the portal to tell stories as vivid as a HOV triple entendre or a Jeezy ad-lib...’
The prospective release of the ‘The 50’ will push the number of Off-White x Nike sneakers close to the 100. No official word on release dates, but expect the rollout to be a somewhat complicated one considering the amount of colourways. We’ll bring you more news as it comes to light.
