Vice Media was once a force to be reckoned with. From humble beginnings in Canada’s city of Quebec in 1994, Vice grew to be a big player in the media space throughout the 2000s and even had their own TV channel. They hosted global offices, had a budding presence in the video space, and had launched Vice News a few years prior. However, in 2024, Vice are far from what they used to be, struggling with mass layoffs and ceasing publishing on their website. During their peak though, they were a disruptive force in media, and it seemed they also made a big impression on the Nike campus too, as the Beaverton brand crafted an exclusive friends and family Nike Air Force 1.

It’s said that only 50 pairs were ever created and given to Vice employees during that period. Premium leather materials have been used for the upper, with a white-on-white construction and added gold foil details. Along the lateral of the heel it reads ‘L’Union Fait la Force’, which means ‘Unity is Strength’, paying homage to the company’s roots in the French-speaking city of Quebec. Vice branding also reaches the outsole plus dubraes with the phrase ‘Rumoured to Be Among the Best’ scripted on the interior.

Index PDX are currently selling this pair pictured above, which is a size 9, for $5000. This is over $3000 less than the pair sold at Sotheby’s recently, which commanded a price of $8,820.
