UNO Join Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nike for a Card-Centric Collection!
Life is good for reigning Champion, All-NBA 1st Team selection and former league MVP . The 'Greek Freak,' as he's known by Milwaukee Bucks supporters, is currently working towards defending the Bucks' 2021 NBA title, but in his downtime, he and his brothers (Francis, Thanasis, Kostas and Alex) like to unwind by playing UNO – so UNO and have gotten together for an extensive collection with Antetokounmpo himself as the centrepiece.
There are five bold colourways of Antetokounmpo's in the collection, four that nod to UNO's card colours (red, green, blue and yellow) and one that acknowledges the all-powerful Draw 4 Wild card with an all-over print graphic. Each features vibrant card-themed details, custom collar lining and bright Swooshes. The , a style that leaked to great fanfare earlier in October, is part of the collection too. Apart from the shoes, offerings include a leisurely take on the Offline slide – a comfort-geared sandal with interchangeable insoles – plus tees and hats.
It would be borderline uncivilized to do a UNO colab without a special deck of cards, so the collection's finishing touch is supplied by an Antetokounmpo-themed deck with unique Freak branding and a new rule that lets players 'force a turnover,' or, in non-game parlance, steal an extra discard card from one of their opponents.
'I want every product to be genuine and authentic, and playing UNO with my brothers is a big part of our lives,” said Antetokounmpo. 'The Nike team has done a great job bringing my ideas to life, and I think they’ve created something for every Nike, UNO and basketball fan in this collection.'
Looking to get a hand on a product from this three-party colab? The shoes and apparel are set to roll out over the coming months, but Nike has yet to announce an official release date. The cards, however, do have a set date: they'll drop on the Mattel Creations webstore and via NTWRK November 11.
