The Union LA x Nike Field General Arrives in Two Colourways

Update February 1, 2024: A closer look at the Union LA x Nike Field General has arrived. The initial iteration, dubbed 'Shimmer', features an upper covered in soft pink with hits of burgundy. Elsewhere, light pink accents are found on the exposed eyelets and tongue branding. A second colourway has also been revealed: 'Black/Ivory'. This variation is a complete 180 from the first version, given its dark colour scheme. The silhouette is dominated by black with accents of blue on the upper and tongue tab logo. For a pop of colour, the exposed stitching and Union LA branding are dressed in yellow.

Update January 19, 2024: New images of the Union LA x Nike Field General have surfaced on social media, and sneakerheads are in for a big surprise. The collaboration bears little resemblance to the classic 1980s football cleat that inspired it, with the more lifestyle-oriented remix only borrowing specific elements like the exposed mesh toeboxes and quarter panels.

It’s becoming an annual tradition where directly after Union releases a Nike collaboration, fresh leaks and rumours arrive of what the duo have coming.

Following the launch of the highly anticipated Bephies Beauty Supply x Air Jordan 1 this week, insider sneaker sources have told Complex that Chris Gibbs’s Union will be resurrecting the Field General in 2024.

The Field General originally released in 1982 as a turf shoe for football players, but hasn’t seen a retro in true OG form since its debut in the 80s. Nike did release the Zoom Field General in 2014, a modernised boot that doesn’t bear any resemblance to the original, and a Hyperfuse version, which was the closest they came to recreating the earliest silhouette. Further back in 2012, there was also the ultra-high-top Field General Free. Pictured above is an OG pair from eBay.

So far, Union and Nike are yet to comment on their leaked collaboration, but according to the source, the Union x Nike Field General will be arriving in mid-2024.
