UNDERCOVER Announce New Nike Gyakusou Colab

Jun Takahashi may be best known for his edgy UNDERCOVER clothing label, but the esteemed Japanese designer also has an immense love for running. He expresses this athletic adoration through the Nike Gyakusou collaborations, which is soon returning with a new footwear entry after taking a brief breather in 2020.

Gyakusou releases in recent years have featured the latest in Nike running models, such as the Air Zoom Pegasus 36 Trail, Zoom Pegasus Turbo and Zoom Fly SP just three of the last entries. 2021’s drop stays high tech as evidenced by the singular shot posted on the UNDERCOVER Instagram page. Likely a modified version of the incumbent ZoomX Vaporfly NEXT%, as evidenced by the stacked midsole, the Gyakusou designation enables bespoke options for the upper. Which Takahashi takes full advantage of by applying multiple Gyakusou brand spell outs and translucent inserts on the toe box and mid foot – a design cue that’s trickled over from his UNDERCOVER x Nike React Element 87 colabs. If the previous Gyakusou releases are anything to go by, there likely will be a second colourway joining this bright red and navy one, so keep an eye out for that.
