This ASICS Running Shoe is Equipped with a Microcomputer
hasn’t always gone well, but are out to change that with the Evoride Orphe running shoe. First previewed at CES 2020 in January, the ultra-modern runner features a specialised microcomputer in the midsole developed by Japanese tech hub No New Folk Studios.
Based on the Orphe Track shoe, the Evoride Orphe has a six-axis motion sensor that also measures barometric pressure and vibration. These functions are controlled by the aforementioned STM32L4 microcomputer. The microcomputer then feeds data to an app on the wearer’s iPhone or Android device, giving instant feedback and suggesting training program options. ASICS’ creation is said to be the first running shoe to provide high-level, real-time detail on the wearer’s natural movements.
As for more traditional shoe tech, the build features mesh uppers and a FlyteFoam midsole.
The ASICS Evoride Orphe is available for pre-order in Japan via crowdfunding site , with a wide release yet to be announced. We'll keep you posted on developments.
