They Back At It! Skechers Suing adidas Over Infringement Letters

Skechers and adidas are no strangers when it comes to the courtroom. Having just settled a trademark infringement suit over a Stan Smith—like release, the two brands are back at it again over another lookalike sneaker. This time, however, Skechers are the ones doing the suing.

Responding to four separate infringement notices sent from adidas regarding their Goldie-Peaks sneaker, Skechers has asked the court to declare that the sneaker does not infringe or dilute the famed Three Stripe branding and, as a result, adidas does not have a case.

The Goldie-Peaks has been singled-out by adi for making use of four stripes on its lateral panel, accusing it of being too similar to their own famed Three Stripes.

According to The Fashion Law, Skechers is seeking court intervention ‘to protect its ability to lawfully conduct its business as a leading designer, developer and marketer of lifestyle and athletic footwear, without interference from adidas.’

So, what do you think? Do Skechers have a defence here? Peep the Goldie-Peaks (above) and make up your own mind.
