There’s a Lot Going on With the Nike Air Max 95 ‘Japan’
Japan has long been considered a spiritual home for the hi-tech Nike Air Max 95, a model that has seen its fair share of exclusive colourways and collaborations over in the Land of the Rising Sun. This practice is set to continue with the very busy edition pictured above, which is simply nicknamed the ‘Japan’. Let’s try to dissect exactly what is going on here.
Starting from the soles, these AM95s have been specced with milky iced-out outsoles that are joined to crisp white foam midsoles. Interesting, the forefoot and heel Air units are mismatched, with neon yellow and orange respectively – a feature not commonly seen. Above on the uppers, things get very busy. Just about every panel is laden with vibrant graphics that appear to sit beneath transparent layers. These graphics display numerous references to Air Max – even a ‘3/26’ is in the mix – the date of Air Max Day. This could suggest when these AM95s will be releasing. And perhaps most curiously, there is a removable rubber band that attaches to the toe bumper, forefoot notch, and heel. What this is for remains to be seen.
In fact, this whole rendition is rather reminiscent of the atmos x Nike Air Max2 Light from 2019, which also had graphic-heavy uppers and transparent panels. Stay tuned to discover what becomes of this very unique AM95.
