The Shoe Surgeon and Gucci Create a Trio of Up-Cycled Sneakers
After releasing a back in March, Italian luxury label has now teamed with custom sneaker king to create kicks that are about as ‘real’ as they come. Collaborating for the first time, the duo have put together three pairs of collectible Gucci Basket sneakers.
Gucci provided The Shoe Surgeon with up-cycled materials from some of their most recognisable prints to create these bespoke Baskets. Each design represents an influential past, present and future. As Gucci puts it, ‘an ode to what binds us in life, inspired by our experiences, our learnings, and our creations – repurposed, revived and renewed’. With high-cut basketball-style constructions, each sneaker carries an idiosyncratic DIY aesthetic, each with a mishmash of colours and patterns.
Proceeds from the three custom sneakers will go to Oakland School of Art’s ‘Step It Up’ program and will provide technology resources to the students there.
Truly one of a kind, these special collaborations between The Shoe Surgeon and Gucci are being sold exclusively at Gucci’s Beverly Hills store.
