Nike are pressing on with new colourways of the Overbreak SP, which mostly seem to be drawing on heritage 1970s colourways, with the exception of the recent UNDERCOVER colabs, of course. The next release that taps into the throwback tones is the ‘Pollen Rise’.

As its name suggests, there are plenty of warm yellow shades on show. The Overbreak SP’s relatively retro-inspired upper stays period correct with large suede panels underlaid by crispy nylon quarters. In a somewhat subversive move, the panel edges are not tucked or trimmed, leaving them neatly yet haphazardly hanging out. It creates an intriguing visual effect – if the crazy cobbled midsole wasn’t already eye-catching.

The Overbreak SP borrows its midsoles from the experimental ISPA OverReact, which, as the name suggests, features Nike React cushioning. This lightweight and finely tuned compound ensures any shape it’s rendered into is comfortable and supportive. Which certainly looks to be the case here.

Going back to the uppers, heritage finishing includes hiking-style rope laces, more nylon on the tongues that are finished with piped edges, and a nice splash of ‘Neptune Green’ through the large Swooshes and heel tabs.

Keep an eye out for the Overbreak SP ‘Pollen Rise’ to hit retailers in coming weeks.
