After a solid two decades of pumping out limited editions for the masses to chase, it can be extremely refreshing to just pick up a general release. Such as the Nike Air Force 1, which has always been a part of the Swoosh line-up across the spectrum of availability. This ‘Powder Blue’ colourway harks back to those simpler times of walking into a local sports store on a weekend afternoon and having access to a full size run. Those nostalgic times are matched by this AF-1’s old-school palette.
Having been in circulation for decades, the Air Force 1 has undergone subtle production changes every few seasons. It’s generally little details that aren’t really obvious from a distance, but the above images make the tweaks pretty clear. For example, the mini Swoosh embroidered into the U-throat marks a return to a detail used regularly on AF-1 releases from the mid 90s to mid 2000s. While the rest of the upper uses the ’07 revision, which includes a more squared-off heel tab and closed mesh lining. This angular take on the model is softened with this ‘Powder Blue’ leather finish, which is crisply contrasted by white Swooshes, heel tabs, and midsoles. Chef’s kiss.
Keep an eye out for these AF-1s to hit retailers in coming weeks.
