The Best Anime Custom Sneakers We've Seen (So Far!)

Anime has well and truly penetrated the sneaker zeitgeist! Recently we were inundated with news of the Gundam x Nike SB Dunk High collaboration, with seemingly every man, woman and child looking to score a pair. There have also been lesser-hyped sneakers receiving the anime treatment as well, such as BAIT’s Astro Boy-inspired Diadora Intrepid. One of the most recognisable Nike Air Max 98 colourways also exudes Gundam mecha-robot vibes and back in 2018 adidas devoted a whole collection to Dragon Ball Z. While the big brands are always looking for their next anime-inspired sneaker creation, it’s the niche customisers that really keep the party going.

Throughout the globe, imaginative crep creators are constantly whipping up epic, usually hand drawn, sneaker art pieces paying homage to everyone’s favourite animated series and movies. There’s everything from One Piece to One Punch Man and cult-movies like Akira and Spirited Away.

With anime custom sneakers booming, we thought it a good idea to trawl the interwebs and scope out the best ones we could find. As you can expect, most of these use the Air Force 1 or Air Jordan 1 as the base, but there’s also a clean crossover Garoua versus Tokita Ohma Vans Slip-On and a Jujutsu Kaisen Timberland Boot.
