The Air Jordan 12 ‘Playoffs’ Might Retro in 2022

Air Jordan 12 Playoffs OG

Despite it being one of the sneakers Michael Jordan wore en route to winning his fifth NBA championship, the Air Jordan 12 doesn’t always get the same amount of accolades as the other models in his signature series. That said, momentum for the early-teens Jordans has exponentially increased since The Last Dance. With that in mind, the Air Jordan 12 ‘Playoffs’ might receive a warmer reception upon its rumoured return in 2022.

The time is nigh for an AJ12 ‘Playoffs’ retro: the last time it was on shelves proper was back in 2012, notwithstanding the revised low-cut edition from 2017. This black and white colourway is effectively an inverted version of the other OG ‘Taxi’ palette, its white reptilian textured mudguard starkly set against black tumbled leather uppers. As per the Jordan Brand archive, the 12 is ‘one of the most durable Air Jordans of all time’ – and that’s thanks to those buttery uppers. Underfoot is a similarly plush affair, as Zoom Air soles entered the Jordan line for the first time.

As fun as it is to speculate, at this stage the only thing that’s real about the return of the Air Jordan 12 ‘Playoffs’ is memories of the OG (as per the image above) and subsequent retro releases. Stay tuned for the official confirmation.
