Is This a Teddy Santis-Curated New Balance 990v2?
The past few years has seen New Balance’s 99X series dominate with collaborations and retro returns of all our favourite models. The 990 has received extra special attention as it's the OG’s 40th anniversary in 2022 and has been resurrected in all versions. Fresh off the back of the vegan v5 and classic grey v3, a brand new v2 colourway has been shared. Is this an early taste of what's to be expected from Teddy Santis?
In April 2021, Aimé Leon Dore’s head honcho took to Instagram to share that he had taken up a position as the Creative Director of New Balance’s Made in USA line. Set to start his role this year, sources have linked this particular model shared by retailer @vintagelements to his inline offerings, allegedly releasing mid-2022.
A crisp Made in USA heater, this New Balance 990v2 opts for the classic colour-blocking and materials, elevated by shaggy suede overlays. A khaki green mesh has been laid down and complemented by the beige rear panels and darker grey tongue label. NB’s ABZORB tech has been injected into the midsole, with what looks like reflective detailing on the ’N’ and heel logo.
