Superkicks Open Epic Flagship Store in New Delhi
Superkicks have expanded their retail empire with the opening of their latest flagship store in New Delhi. Located in the Priya Market – historically known as the site of first multiplex theatre – the team drew on the nostalgic value of their prime real estate to deliver a cinematic shopping experience in one of the country’s biggest sneaker and streetwear stores.
The two-level location opens with the ground floor where all the action takes place. Unlike the slick monochrome of their Mumbai, Bengaluru and Guwahati spots, Superkicks New Delhi introduces vintage warmth and bright light fixtures inspired by their nostalgic neighbours. The sneaker walls are raised like the top step of a podium, inviting customers to reach for their prize. Product suspended in tubing from the ceiling references the way stock used to be passed down from the attic to the shop floor.
‘We aim to not only provide an excellent retail experience with the space, but also rich, cultural and community-led inclusive experiences. The goal is to balance the two as well as enable them to coexist and flourish to create a unique experience.’ said Sangeet Paryani, Superkicks co-founder.
There is also ‘The Basement’ situated beneath ground level that not only features more product to peruse, but also doubles as an event space for the local street culture community.
‘With the new space, we have so much room to explore and materialise our vision of creating an environment to nurture the budding community.’ said Nisha Paryani, the other Superkicks co-founder.
Sneaker Freaker celebrated the Superkicks New Delhi launch and partnership as a magazine stockist by collaborating on two limited edition t-shirts available exclusively from the store. One was inspired by vintage cinema posters and ties back to the local area, while the other portrays a modern deconstructed take on The Jungle Book – one of India’s most well-known tales.
With the doors to the New Delhi store barely opened, Superkicks are already working on opening their fifth location in Hyderabad.
