Sotheby’s Present ‘The Dynasty’ of Michael Jordan’s Game-Worn Championship Sneakers
Sotheby’s have assembled quite possibly the most valuable collection of Jordans ever – presenting ‘The Dynasty’, a six-shoe lot of items worn by Michael Jordan en route to his six NBA championships.
‘The Dynasty’ consists of Air Jordans 6, 7, 8, 11, 12 and 14, signature models that cemented themselves in basketball and sneaker lore during MJ’s two three-peats. Interestingly, this collection only features a single foot from each model, with the AJ6 a left foot and the remaining pairs right feet. Like many rare game-worns, these examples are signed by Jordan and are likely stringently verified by multiple sports memorabilia graders.
Some of these shoes also feature hand-written notes about the games they were worn at, with the AJ8 appearing to go into further detail. The AJ11 is also notable for its midsole signature, which appears to be applied using a blue ballpoint pen – other examples have either used a black marker and/or have been signed on the upper.
‘The Dynasty’ collection can be viewed right now at Sotheby’s Dubai until March 3. It’s not yet disclosed how much this historic lot is asking, but it’s safe to assume it could be a record-breaker. Could this be MJ himself!?
