Sneaker Seeker Workshops

Sneaker Seeker 1

We’ve dropped knowledge on the good guys at Slough Young People’s Centre with their educational sneaker workshops in the past, but now they are setting up a regular program called Sneaker Seeker. The program aims to expose young kids to the wonders of sneakers through customisation, workshops and lectures. Young people will learn a range of skills including sneaker design, customisation, curatorship, film making and photography at Slough Young People’s Centre based in the centre of Slough town.

Coming on board to front the workshops at SYPC are world-renowned sneaker customisers , Ghettro and alongside who will all demonstrate their skills and enable young people to customise sneakers donated by sneaker e-retailer SoleHeaven. Also taking place will be the Sneaker Industry Seminar bringing inside knowledge from adidas and Nike representatives.

The exhibition element of the project will take place at Slough Museum, the West Wing Arts Centre and the Queensmere Shopping Centre and will create a link between sneakers, art and the consumer. The exhibition will contain customised sneakers, urban art, photography and a documentary film about sneakers and their relationship to young people’s identity and culture.

To get involved go to the SYPC website for more information.
