A sick launch party requires more than free beer and bubbles – the streetwear twitterati have seen that all before. Have they ever stood face-to-face with a 2.5 metre tall monolithic owl with laser beams for eyeballs, though? Unlikely. When we joined heads with G-Shock to plan a party to celebrate the release of the DW-6900 NIGHTOWL, we knew we had to provide some surprises to make a memorable night, and the lucky punters seemed to appreciate the effort. Gratis rum and vodka drinks got the girls and turn-up bois in good spirits, while a 10-tonne-truck's worth of the yeasty stuff and fermented grape juice sated the other thirsty folks. A red carpet led punters to the promised land, past a chill-out zone replete with bean bags and hall of fame display cases housing some of the best creations by SF and G-Shock. In said party nucleus, a massive projection wall played perfectly unsettling owl visuals, while the colab watch was cased up and in the spotlight for eager eyes to view. To the left of the sprawling band stage, which would later be the platform for a scorching set from Anderson Paak, sat the aforementioned laser-eyed owl. It was a stunning spectacle and awe-inspiring night of light and music that won't be forgotten any time soon, even by those who tried their best to bludgeon their memory to sludge with the liquid supplies. Enjoy the pictorial recap of the madness above. Shots via Sam Wong, except for those watermarked on the right hand side with 'Soulbridge Media' (taken by Terry Soo).
