Sneaker Con App Uses NFC Chips to Combat Fakes
Sneaker Con is launching a new sneaker marketplace app with the most thorough authentication process we’ve ever seen. Looking to one-up popular portals like StockX and GOAT, Sneaker Con’s app will make use of near-field communication (NFC) to legit-check your latest purchase.
Pairs purchased via the app will come with a physical NFC tag attached. This ‘Legit Tag’ is loaded with information about the purchased sneaker, including model name, size, condition, SKU number, and whether it’s a ‘Legit. Sneaker Con Authenticated’ product.
Sellers will be charged an 8 per cent fee by the app for each sale. Purchased pairs will be sent to Sneaker Con to be authenticated, before being shipped to the buyer. If a pair is discovered to be fake, Sneaker Con will refund the buyer then send it back to the seller free of charge.
Currently only available for iOS, you can find out more about the Sneaker Con app here.
