Skepta Reveals Second Colourway of Nike Air Max Tailwind 5 Colab
After the unofficial unveiling of his still unreleased Nike Air Max Tailwind 5 collaboration earlier this year, British rapper Skepta took to social media over the weekend to tease another colourway of the obscure model.
The antithetical blue ice to the fiery red edition that was leaked back in January, these scarce on-foot shots from the Microphone Champion himself confirm a thematic continuation. Rather than use the quilted grid mesh upper of the standard AM Tailwind 5, this colab actually draws on the OG pattern of the Air Max Tailwind 5 Plus, which first released at the turn of the millennium. Skepta adds his personal touches with a wild, almost tie-dye arrangement of bright blue and dark purple, offset by black webbing.
The tough look is further emphasised with polished silver accents such as the Swoosh, heel counter and reflective lace loops, making way for iridescent panels around the ankle collar. Like previous Skepta x Nike Air Max colabs, the tongues and insoles are finished with custom Sk Air logos, modelled off the late-1990s ‘Air Elements’ graphics. Like the leaked red pair, there should be a custom shoebox too.
With no word of a release date in sight, the agonising wait continues for overlapping diehard fans of Skepta and Air Max.
