Shaquille O'Neal has been named as the President of Reebok Basketball, with Allen Iverson appointed as Vice President. Longtime legends of team Reebok, Iverson and Shaq famously faced off in the 2001 NBA Finals, when the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers battled (the Lakers would eventually emerge victorious after a classic Game 1 performance by both Shaq and Iverson).

O'Neal first collaborated with Reebok more than 30 years ago on the Shaq Attaq series, which is now regarded as a classic line of the 90s. With an equally established partnership with the brand, Allen Iverson’s signature shoes have continued to surge in popularity in recent years. The Reebok Question and Answer line have once again become one of the most popular shoes on the market.

‘Looking back on my career with Reebok and in basketball, this appointment means everything to me,’ O’Neal told WWD. ‘It’s a reminder of where I’ve come from and what I’ve built. I’m just motivated to make an impact and bring the brand back to the place it belongs in basketball.’

Shaq also shared his thoughts on Allen Iverson, and how he established the brand as a powerhouse player in the 1990s and 2000s.

‘AI [Allen Iverson] is a founding father of Reebok Basketball and has left a lasting impact on the game and its surrounding culture. There is no one I’d rather work with to bring in a new generation of ballers to Reebok than him. Shaq and AI back at it — feels good.’
