Shannon Abloh Shares Plans for Off-White, Nike in First-Ever Interview

Nike Terra Forma

Shannon Abloh, wife of the late Virgil Abloh, has given her first-ever interview and shared plans for the future of Off-White and Nike, among other topics.

In the in-depth New York Times interview, the very private Ms Abloh states she has always been the ‘stable partner’. Following the passing of her husband, she has stepped up to preserve the legacy he built from his numerous projects and collaborations. She set up Virgil Abloh Securities, an overarching collective of his creative schemes, and serves as chief executive of Architecture in partnership with Nike. The latter venture will be hosting an interactive experience at Miami Art Week in early December – an event she hopes will become an annual fixture.

On Nike, chief design officer John Hoke worked with Mr Abloh on his Swoosh collaborations, mentioning that there is ‘still a year’s worth of Off-White x Nike products already in the pipeline’. This is already being realised with the imminent arrival of the Terra Forma, the first original model designed by Abloh.

As for Off-White, the LVMH group purchased a majority of the trademark from Mr Abloh, securing his family’s financial future and also the longevity of the brand. Ms Abloh is largely hands-off with OW, which is being overseen by Ibrahim Kamara.

As Ms Abloh’s business adviser states, ‘we are on the 50-year plan.’
