Salomon Advanced Unveil Super Stealthy ‘Black Edition’ Collection
technical trail running designs are usually characterised by high visibility neons and contrasting colour placements, but their latest Advanced collection for Spring/Summer ’21 takes a very tonal turn. As its ‘Black Edition’ nomenclature suggests, all sneakers featured are hidden away by all-black colourways. This pack includes three Salomon models receiving the Advanced treatment: the S/Lab Cross Black LTD, Phantasm Black LTD, and Ultra 3 Black LTD.
Starting with the S/Lab Cross Black LTD, this is one of Salomon’s most advanced trail runners yet. They’ve refocused their attention on maximum traction across all surfaces by redesigning the lugged Contragrip rubber compound tread. The supreme fit and breathability hasn’t been forgotten either, thanks to the stretchy sock-fit upper.
The Phantasm Black LTD is an ultra-light and breathable model that’s more reminiscent of a marathon winner than a rock hopper. Which is exactly where Salomon are venturing; this runner’s rocker sole may be the secret to its road-racing success.
Finally, the Ultra 3 Black LTD is an all-day adventurer that shares some design cues with the S/Lab Cross Black LTD. It promotes more freedom of motion with a lower knitted ankle collar, but its welded panels still offer plenty of protection out on the trail.
