Salehe Bembury Shows off Another New Balance 574 ‘Yurt’

Salehe Bembury New Balance 574 Yurt

Designer Salehe Bembury and New Balance have established themselves as a dynamic duo, capturing the attention of sneakerheads globally with their inventive approach. Moving away from the 2002R, which Bembury has collaborated on twice, the duo is now highlighting the legendary 574 with a new ‘Yurt’ build. Following the teased grey pair, a new colourway has just been revealed.

Once again enlisting the help of actor Jesse Williams, Bembury and New Balance filmed an epic short video highlighting the shoe. Interestingly, the protruding part at the rear is actually a whistle! Dubbed ‘Yurt’, the construction takes inspiration from the outdoors – specifically the round, portable tents used by nomadic groups in Central Asia. The whistle addition makes sense, because if you find yourself in trouble on your next expedition you can call for help by blowing into your shoe.

For the new colourway, Bembury has used shaggy suede in green to resemble moss. A red leather panel wraps the toe box with blue mesh underlays. Down below, the unique sole unit remains, but has been blessed with yellow and blue pops of colour.

No release details have been given as of yet, but we don’t think a drop is too far away. While you wait, check out the grey version here.
