Following the release of his , men’s fashion magazine GQ have met up with Sage Elsesser to chat about how the shoe came to be. After speaking on his personal style and questioning Jonah Hill’s questionable outfit pairings, Elsesser went on to explain the reasoning behind his Pro CC colab:

‘I just thought it was a shoe that was really important to the aesthetic of Converse. It's a classic shoe. I've thought recently the direction of Converse has been really Nike-influenced, with the newest technology and breathable fabric and all that bullshit. I just wanted to make a shoe you fucking put on your feet, tie the laces, and do what you do. I wanted just a basic shoe. It's just an old tennis shoe. And I know that's really popular with things like the Stan Smith.’

It’s also revealed that the shoe first caught his attention when he was travelling through Japan and was struck by the leather, which he and Converse then applied to another shoe. Other points like Elsesser’s feelings towards brands that sell skate-chic at high price points, and his thoughts on the new  colab are also touched on. You can read the full interview here.
