Rui Hachimura has been signed to Jordan Brand since he was a rookie – and received a heaping helping of PEs, plus his own Air Jordan 35 'Warrior' – but now the third-year Washington Wizards forward is set for a new sneaker chapter, namely an Air Jordan 8 that's his first Air Jordan retro colab.
Arriving in a 'Twine/Gym Red/Black/Sesame' colourway, Hachimura's new Air Jordan features a supple suede and leather upper with a multitude of textures. The base is shaggy, the eyestays and winged overlays feature a cracked print and the tongue/collar cutouts even add a geometric pattern! A finishing touch is supplied by Hachimura's signature H logo on the chenille tongue badge.
Detailing doesn't stop at the shoes, however, as the box boasts a richly-detailed illustration of Hachimura sailing through the air in his #8 jersey for a right-handed slam while two faceless opponents haplessly try to impede his path. The shoes are even wrapped in co-branded tissue paper.
Hachimura might not be seen rocking his Air Jordan 8 on the court any time soon: he was given an excused absence from the Wizards back in September due to personal reasons, and hasn't joined the team since then or even been at the practice facility at the same time as his teammates. However, the Rui Hachimura x Air Jordan 8 will likely release towards the end of 2021 or in the early days of 2022. We'll keep you updated as more info surfaces.
