Exclusive Reebok Sneakers to Be Sold at Foot Locker Thanks to New Partnership
After buying Reebok from adidas last year, the Authentic Brands Group have begun enacting major changes to their new acquisition’s business model. This starts with a new partnership with Foot Locker that will see a deepened assortment of Reebok products in their store network, plus exclusive styles only available from the major retailer. Most significantly, the brand’s best-selling and most popular retro basketball shoes from Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson will become Foot Locker exclusives in the US.
Jamie Salter, founder, chairman and CEO at ABG said, ‘We are thrilled to announce our Reebok partnership with Foot Locker as they are an essential part of our strategic growth plan for the brand. We are excited to partner with a retailer who holds such an important position with both sports and lifestyle audiences and look forward to driving brand heat with new and iconic product.’
Conversely, Richard Johnson, chairman and CEO of Foot Locker, Inc. said, ‘We are incredibly excited to partner with ABG and Reebok to gain exclusive access to industry renowned product. This partnership builds on our commitment to elevate the customer experience, offer consumers high heat product from the biggest brands, and build collaborations with the biggest names in sneaker culture.’
Foot Locker will also begin working closely with the Reebok Design Group to influence some of the core styles that will form part of the retailer’s aforementioned exclusive products. Additional Reebok styles will start landing on Foot Locker shelves in America’s autumn season this year. Meanwhile, adidas will complete their transfer of Reebok ownership to ABG this quarter.
