Update January 13, 2023: Just days after PUMA and Dapper Dan announced their official partnership, the latest drop from their collection arrives. The five-item capsule includes a pair of Clydes, a matching tracksuit, t-shirts, and even a reversible, rhinestone-studded padded jacket. These jawnz will be available on January 28 from select boutiques such as atmos, Concepts, and Social Status.
Legendary for meshing high fashion with the hip-hop world via custom garments and sneakers with a luxury edge, designer and haberdasher Dapper Dan (government name Daniel Day) has been defining what streetwear is since the late 80s. He’s draped icons like LL Cool J, Salt ’n’ Pepa and Mike Tyson in his reappropriated interpretations of Haute textiles and patterns. And in 2018, he brought his signature bootleg style full circle with an official Gucci collaboration.
Now, off the back of a collaborative collection released in October 2022, PUMA have announced that the Hip Hop Tailor of Harlem has officially joined the #PUMAFam as a brand ambassador.
The designer’s hallmark logomania appeared all over the recent Dapper Dan x PUMA collection, so considering the two each have their own influential history with NYC style, it’ll be interesting to see what form the Big Cat takes as this partnership evolves. Stay locked to SF for updates!
