PUMA has busted open a fresh umbrella this year entitled 'The Nature of Performance', under which they seek to reaffirm their position as one of the world's leading performance-oriented innovators. To kick it off, they have created an entirely new running footwear category called 'Adaptive Running', with the the first release in the line. Organic meets mechanic in the feline-inspired model, which expands and contracts at pivotal stages during a runner's natural gait – the elasticised Mobium Band strung through the segmented sole pulls the shoe back together when toeing off.
We had the chance to head to the PUMA Brand Centre in Tokyo this week to witness the official unveiling of the Mobium, as well as hearing from the designers about the springy future of Adaptive Running.

"This is the first time that footwear has been created that adapts to your foot," explained Mobium designer Ray Horacek. "The shoe is actually moving with your foot through its natural gait, it's expanding and contracting with your natural motion."

Alongside the footwear release, PUMA also tightened up their performance apparel game with the unveiling of new ACTR and RCVR compression training tights. The ACTV (Active) is purpose-built for usage during training and utilises strategically integrated athletic taping to enhance muscle power, while the RCVR (Reactive) tights are created to support the body's natural systems during post-workout muscle recovery.
