Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon and Vans Create a Mega Collection
A few years ago, anime and sneakers would have been seen as strange bedfellows but in 2022 the two nerdy worlds have converged to create a whole sub-genre. Collaborative creps themed around anime have become the norm, most recently, BAIT has linked with Reebok for an Astro Boy-themed collection and adidas for a colossal Attack on Titan colab. Next up, Vans have looked to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon with a gargantuan collection spanning a stack of footwear options for the whole family.
Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon was originally created as a manga by Naoko Takeuchi that was published in a magazine called Nakayoshi back in 1991. In 2012, celebrating the legendary manga’s 20th anniversary, the original work was made available via an e-book and was also turned into an animated series, a musical, plus an official fan club was formed. Not only popular in Japan, Sailor Moon has since been translated in 17 languages and the anime series has been aired in more than 40 countries! The Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon x Vans collection boasts a large array of silhouettes including the SK8-Hi, Slip-On, Old Skool and more! There is plenty of sizing options available for women’s, men’s and kid’s. Each iteration features eye-catching graphics from the manga.
An exact release date for the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon x Vans sneakers and apparel hasn’t been revealed but we do know that they’ll hit shelves in the APAC region in June!
