Power Laces Race Nike To The Future!
of Nike filing patent papers for a revolutionary automatic lacing system not unlike that of the Air Mag from Back to the Future II had sneaker heads and film buffs falling off their hoverboards! But time travel enthusiasts may not have to set their DeLoreans to 2015 after all... Stay-at-home inventor Bess Bevin has created an upgrade to her original concept, which clocked up over 1.4 million YouTube hits last month. The new and improved Power Laces 2.0 does away with the bulky exterior of the original, instead hiding the technology within the shoe's sole. A sensor in the heel tightens the laces every time you step into your kicks. Bevin envisions the Power Laces 2.0 technology to be adaptable to any shoe, which is not only good news for sneaker fans, but more importantly it could be a revolutionary step for people with motor skill disabilities. If you want to help Bevin beat Nike to the punch, head over to to contribute to her goal of US$25,000. Check out the video below for a demonstration of the prototype. Thanks to for the news.
