Pot and Cigarettes Smuggled into Lusignan Prison via Sneakers

A man was caught trying to smuggle contraband items into the Lusignan prison on Sunday.

Four packets of cigarettes and 108 grams of marijuana were found under the shoes' soles. According to the Director of Prisons, Gladwin Samuels, the amount of items smuggled into the prison has grown at an alarming rate, with the suspected collusion between guards and inmates identified as a central cause.

'It is the belief now that if you are smoking marijuana, it means that you have access to it and you are likely a potential trafficker,' Samuels explained.
