Pharrell Covers the Louis Vuitton LV Trainer Maxi with Swarovski Crystals
Since joining as the , hasn’t backed down from the impossible task of filling shoes. So far his tenure has produced some interesting endeavours, including the recent . As we inch closer to Williams unleashing the Spring/Summer 2024 collection, we’re still being drip-fed interesting morsels to tide us over, including Pharrell's new LV trainer.
What better way to take Virgil Abloh’s baton than Pharell-ing the Abloh creation that originally merged high fashion with the sneakersphere. First debuting in 2019, Abloh's basketball-inspired LV Trainer fused luxury with streetwear and became the touchstone for Abloh's enduring legacy at Louis Vuitton. The 2019 staple silhouette got a facelift this year into the LV Trainer Maxi, with the new sculpture bestowing the shape with a thicker shadow, giving them an SB Dunk vibe.
Naturally, with Pharrell’s rep for skating, that’s the LV model he’s given his take on, bedazzling the upper with Swarovski crystals. The crystals cover almost every inch of the shoe, impressively painting the colour with a iridescent but dark reflection. Pharrell's added his signature 'P' in contrasting white stones that are also used for the LV on the toes and 'Vuitton' down the lateral and medial sides. The shoe is given a second to breathe from the diamond finish with the black rubber outsole matching the heel, juxtaposed against another splash of white for the LV logo.
The LV Trainer Maxi sneaker is available now, but it is set at $6,150, which is to be expected for a jewel encrusted LV sneaker designed by Pharrell Williams.
