On Announces the Cyclon: A Sustainable, Subscription-Only Sneaker

A first of its kind, the Cyclon is the latest running shoe from Swiss brand On. Each pair is 100 per cent recyclable, but here’s the real revolution: the Cyclon will only be available via a monthly subscription service, where members can return end-of-life products back to On, in exchange for the latest version.

The uppers are constructed from a dye-free knit upper designed for flexibility, stability and breathability. The material (which is made from beans) is a single cut of fabric, which means zero waste. Meanwhile, the performance of the sole unit hasn’t been compromised, with Speedboard and Super Critical Foaming Technology housed inside.

‘Run in them, return them and we give you new beans – sorry, shoes. And repeat. Own the run, not the shoe,’ says On.

The Cyclon subscription service will be $29.99 a month, and pre-registration is already open. The first pairs are slated to arrive in the northern Fall season.
