After winning the US Open, and expanding on her exciting partnership with , tennis superstar Naomi Osaka certainly hasn’t let an unpredictable 2020 rain on her parade. She’s in plenty of heat, released a runway-ready Blazer Mid alongside , and now she’s turning her attention to something for the court. Coming through with her own colourway of the NikeCourt Air Zoom GP Turbo, Osaka once again celebrates her Japanese roots.
Dressed predominantly in white, the upper is highlighted with a bright orange Swoosh and a playful graphic of Maneki Neko (a Japanese figurine of a cat believed to bring good luck) carrying a tennis racquet. Look at the heels and you’ll spot ‘Osaka’ in Japanese characters painted on an oval, gold coin-like patch, which nods to the koban coin often held by Maneki Neko. Another nod of the spiritual cat comes on the tongue in the form of a red belled collar and green scarf. Branded, graphic-printed insoles and a responsive Zoom Air unit round out this performance model.
The Naomi Osaka x NikeCourt Air Zoom GP Turbo is currently only as a Nike Members-Only release. A global release shouldn’t be too far away, so stay tuned.
