Update July 20, 2023: Following a preview from A$AP Bari, official imagery has arrived of the Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Mid 'Sheed'. It's no surprise that these patent AF-1s will see a retail release, as Off-White dropped their 'Graffiti' in June. An exact date is still up in the air, but August is rumoured to be the month to watch.

Virgil Abloh’s posthumous sneaker releases continue with the imminent arrival of a black Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Mid reminiscent of classic Rasheed Wallace Player Exclusives. This edition follows the distinct modifications of previous OW AF-1s while adding elements of the retired NBA player’s idiosyncratic Nike PEs.

Rasheed Wallace spent the majority of his NBA career playing in AF-1s, which was definitely an anachronistic thing to do, especially in the 2000s. His preference for the model netted him dozens of custom colourways, usually marked on the heel with an embroidered silhouette of him taking a jump shot. This black-and-white patent edition, as shared by Bari, references a classic rendition released right at the turn of the century, which has been revived here.

Of course, the OW edition exaggerates some proportions per previous releases. The strap hardware is a little different to the standard issue, and the midsole notably features spiked tread fittings and a visible Air bubble in the heel. The Sheed logo makes its way onto the lateral side – it can’t be missed.

Given the early teaser, it’s likely the Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Mid in Sheed colours will arrive in the coming months. There’s also word that the black and white AF-1 High pictured next to the Mid will receive a retail release.
