Nike are facing more drama with another of their major athlete signings, with football star Odell Beckham Jr. reportedly filing a lawsuit over withheld payment from the Swoosh.

In the lawsuit obtained by TMZ and submitted by OBJ’s attorney Daniel Davillier, it’s stated that Nike chose to extend OBJ’s endorsement deal upon its expiration in 2017 to prevent him from signing with adidas, by matching their offer. However, it’s claimed that the renewed deal isn’t being honoured by the brand and is ‘willfully withholding millions of dollars and inventing excuses not to pay him’.

One of these alleged excuses is OBJ wearing customised cleats and gloves that don’t conform with original Nike equipment – reasons that seemingly warranted Nike withholding a reported $2 million-plus of a $2.6 million payment expected to have been paid in March 2022.

The ongoing proceedings of this situation has resulted in OBJ issuing a public statement on his Twitter, confirming that he won't comment further as 'this is now a legal matter'.
